Corporate Accountant 

CMT is currently seeking an experienced accounting professional with a strong work ethic to join our accounting/operations team.  This self-directed, detail-oriented professional must possess strong problem-solving skills, be well organized and enjoy taking ownership of this evolving role.  A team player who is personable and has a sense of humor will be valued in our aggressive, fast paced trading environment which respects and rewards a job well done.  

Responsibilities:  

• Create and post journal entries to support the preparation of the financial statements
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Assist in closing and financial reporting duties, including accruals, adjustments, variance explanations and documentation
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and coordinating with external auditors to ensure timely completion of annual audits
• Assist CMT’s tax manager in preparing deliverables in the preparation of annual tax returns
• Create and maintain a comprehensive set of documentation and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy of reported financial results
• Stay up to date on relevant changes in accounting standards; assist in the implementation of necessary changes to ensure compliance with US GAAP where necessary
• Assist with identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities, including leveraging digital tools to automate and improve efficiency in Company processes
• Assist with other duties on an as-needed basis including new tasks or special projects
• Be flexible to changing priorities and balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously

General Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Experience in the financial services industry, specifically asset management and trading firms, is highly preferred
• Must have a strong understanding of accounting concepts and basic accounting fundamentals: GAAP, general ledgers, consolidated financial statements
• Strong Excel skills required, including the ability to use v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.
• Experience in the use of accounting software Business Central is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
